Steel Ranch South
Steel Ranch, a greenfield, mixed use development consisting of front loaded single family homes, alley loaded age targeted homes, townhomes, and apartments with associated amenities including a resident center and pool; resides within the City of Louisville, Colorado an annual top place to live award winner by Money magazine. The development’s cornerstone is a community linked through multiple City owned parks, linear open spaces, regional trails, greenways and the Bullhead Gulch floodplain and riparian corridor to encourage the Colorado lifestyle. To achieve this goal, unique street cross sections were generated to enhance multi-model transportation options, over seventy percent of the homes were directly adjacent to community links, strategically implemented traditional engineering practices, such as; transitional grading zones, noise buffers, and drainage conveyance elements occurred and low impact design practices both replaced the traditional engineering infrastructure, were feasible. This strategy merged the design into the natural form and function of the site, provided opportunities to enhance mountain view, and provided marketing opportunities to the conscientious consumer in the Boulder County market.
